Storage & Safety
Keep your medical cannabis effective, secure, and away from children and pets.
Storage Basics
Store medical cannabis in a cool, dark, dry place. Heat, light, and humidity can degrade cannabinoids and terpenes. Keep products in their original packaging when possible, or in an airtight, opaque container. Avoid the fridge or freezer unless specifically recommended - moisture and temperature swings can cause issues.
Child & Pet Safety
Cannabis can be harmful to children and pets. Store all products in a locked cabinet or safe, out of reach and out of sight. Edibles are especially risky - they can look like regular snacks. Never leave medical cannabis unattended. If a child or pet ingests cannabis, contact poison control or a veterinarian immediately.

Domestic Travel
You may travel within Canada with medical cannabis in amounts consistent with your authorization. Keep your medical document and proof of registration with a licensed seller. Transport products in carry-on or checked baggage - carry-on is often recommended to avoid temperature extremes in cargo. Do not transport across international borders without checking destination country laws; many countries prohibit cannabis entirely.
Driving & Operating Machinery
Do not drive or operate heavy machinery while impaired by cannabis. THC can affect reaction time, coordination, and judgment. Impaired driving is illegal and dangerous. Wait until you are no longer impaired before driving. If you use medical cannabis regularly, discuss timing and dosing with your practitioner.
Disposal
Unused or expired medical cannabis should be disposed of safely. Mix with undesirable material (e.g. used coffee grounds, cat litter) in a sealed bag before placing in household garbage. Do not flush cannabis products. Keep packaging away from children during disposal.
